Important Installation Information
This package does not include the water pump, engine oil, oil filter, oil pickup or oil strainer.
Wet timing-belt replacement is a specialist repair and should be completed by a suitably qualified mechanic using the correct timing and installation tools.
The engine lubrication system, oil pickup and strainer should be carefully inspected and cleaned during the repair. Any additional damaged or contaminated components identified during disassembly are not included in this package.

What Is a Wet Belt?
A wet timing belt, sometimes called a belt-in-oil timing belt, operates inside the engine and is lubricated by the engine oil. This differs from a conventional dry timing belt, which runs outside the lubricated section of the engine.
The Ford 2.0L EcoBlue diesel engine uses a wet timing belt to drive the camshaft and a separate wet belt to drive the oil pump. Because both belts operate in engine oil, correct servicing and use of oil meeting the required Ford specification are especially important.
As a wet belt ages or deteriorates, belt material can separate and contaminate the engine oil. Debris may collect around the oil pickup or strainer, potentially restricting oil flow. This is why a proper EcoBlue wet belt replacement involves more than simply fitting a new main timing belt.
Why Replace Both EcoBlue Wet Belts?
The Ford Transit 2.0L EcoBlue engine contains a main wet timing belt and a separate oil-pump wet belt. Replacing only the main timing belt leaves the older oil-pump belt inside the engine.
This complete Ford Transit wet belt kit includes both DAYCO belts, the timing-belt tensioner and bolt, helping your mechanic complete a more comprehensive repair while the engine is already dismantled.
Why Does This Kit Include a New Sump and Timing Cover?
Accessing the oil-pump wet belt requires removal of the engine sump. During a comprehensive wet belt replacement, the sump is removed so the oil-pump belt and lubrication system can be accessed and inspected.
The front timing cover must also be removed to access the main timing belt. This package includes a new replacement sump and the correct replacement timing cover with front crankshaft seal.
Ford Transit 2.0L EcoBlue engines use more than one timing-cover type. Gearsons will identify the appropriate supplied cover from your Australian registration number or full VIN.
Possible Signs of Wet Belt Deterioration
A deteriorating wet belt may not always produce an obvious warning. Possible signs or circumstances that warrant further inspection can include:
- Visible belt material or rubber debris in the engine oil
- Debris found around the oil pickup or strainer
- Low engine-oil-pressure warnings
- Unusual engine or timing-area noises
- An unknown or incomplete service history
- Incorrect engine oil previously used in the vehicle
- The vehicle approaching its scheduled wet belt replacement interval
The absence of visible symptoms does not confirm that a wet belt is in good condition. Inspection and replacement advice should come from a suitably qualified mechanic.
When Should a Ford Transit Wet Belt Be Replaced?
Ford Transit and Transit Custom wet belt replacement requirements can vary according to the exact vehicle, build date, engine specification, usage and service history.
Always check the current service information applicable to the vehicle’s VIN. Earlier inspection or replacement may be appropriate where the service history is unknown, incorrect oil has been used, contamination is present or belt deterioration is suspected.
